GREAT EXPECTATIONS

What We Do Expect.

Though the Handler/Owner is not part of the Field Crew nor responsible for any duty other than to have their hound(s) ready to course, it is hoped that each Handler will be involved enough to lend a hand when it is apparent that the Host Club could use some help, or a fellow handler could use another person to release or hold hounds.

Follow the Flow. Keep the event moving by being prepared.
symbol-t.JPG (1424 bytes) The Roll Call is essential. Please go to it as soon as possible and have your hound(s) checked off. This sheet is used to eliminate Absentees from the Draw order.
symbol-t.JPG (1424 bytes) The Running Order is posted in a convenient location near the Secretary's desk. Please be sure you know the order for your breed.
symbol-t.JPG (1424 bytes) Do not crowd the Inspection Area with your hounds if you are near the last on the Running Order list. You will not be forgotten. Your hound's name will be called if it was on the Roll Call Sheet. If your hound's name is not on the Roll Call Sheet, see the Field Secretary immediately.
symbol-t.JPG (1424 bytes) Once the Lure Operator has the course set according to the Premium List lay-out, it is advisable to walk the course either side of the line to assure there are no holes, hazards or obstructions which could be detrimental to your own hound(s). You may take a shovel or other tool to clear possible hazards.
symbol-t.JPG (1424 bytes) Do not take your hound(s) onto the field until you are called to the Line. Especially do not take your hound out on the field when you are filling gopher holes or walking the line to evaluate the safety factors.
symbol-t.JPG (1424 bytes) Handlers are requested to check the Bulletin Board frequently for Draw Order and to be jacketed and collared correctly.
symbol-t.JPG (1424 bytes) Handlers are expected to pick up their hound's droppings and dispose of them appropriately. Also, any trash that you generate, the Host Club would be grateful if you would take it away with you unless the Facility has provided proper disposal units.
symbol-t.JPG (1424 bytes) It would be appreciated if you said "Thank You" to the Lure Operator, the Huntmasters and the Judges....You don't have to join the IWHC, but it would be nice. Thanks.

AKC TEST HOUNDS. Once your hound has completed the Test course, follow the instructions of the Huntmaster and retrieve your Hound, then proceed to the Test Clerk who has received a signal from the Judge indicating Pass or Fail. If your hound passed, the Test Clerk will give you the Green PASS Ribbon. Be sure to write the Club, Test Date and Judge on the reverse of the ribbon for your records. Your hound must have two different judges at two different events. If you are "moving up" to Trial, please notify the Trial Secretary, then proceed to the Inspection Committee for a new inspection.

TRIAL HOUNDS. Keep alert for the Draw Order postings. Be prepared to answer the call when the Paddock Master announces your breed and course number. Have your hound blanketed and the slip collar in proper position. Do not wait until you get to the Line to get the slip readied. Remember to remove all other collars, wrappings on the hound which are of improper color (may not be yellow, pink or blue), and again, keep alert.

Whining, complaining, or unconstructive criticism. Those Handlers will then be expected to "volunteer" for the next event in order to show the Host Club how things should be done.
