This person is
responsible for signaling the start of the lure,
repositioning the lure after each course,
observing the hounds for safe and hazard-free
running, for hound retrieval when appropriate and

Preliminary runs. |

This number is
provided by AKC to neutered/spayed canines
recognized as purebred. The dog may compete in

SEASON |
A female hound
beginning her cycle for breeding. As it can be
disruptive to the males, these females may not
compete until there is no longer evidence of the

| INSPECTION
COMMITTEE |
This committee
consists of three people whose duties are to
inspect each entry for lameness, bitches in
season, males with two testicles or neutered, and
breed disqualifications. They shall investigate
and report on observed or reported hound
aggressiveness, abuse/mistreatment by a handler.
Absentees or hounds not passing inspection will
be reported to the Trial Secretary or Trial
Chairman. |
INSTRUCTION
TO
HANDLERS |
The Paddock Master
or Huntmaster shall be required to instruct the
handlers before the Preliminary runs in
procedure. See Assignment--Huntmaster. |

INVITATIONAL |
A lure trial
designated by ASFA following a bidding process to
select the Host Club. Certain (ASFA) criteria are
required for the participants. Information is

INVITATIONAL,
REGIONAL
AKC/ASFA

This event is open
to hounds with points and is held annually within
a given Region. Any hound in the US and/or
Canada may compete so long as they are
pointed. In ASFA, there are ten regions and
ten annual regional invitationals. AKC has six
regions. |

| JUDGE
|
A person who has
completed various levels of competency in judging
the running styles of at least eight breeds. |
| JUDGING |
The use of a
scoring system based on Speed, Agility, Follow,
Endurance and Enthusiasm where a Judge has
analyzed the performance of the individual
hound(s) and given that performance a numerical
value. |
| JUDGING
SLATE |
The
approved selection of Judges for an event. |

| KENNEL
STAKE |
The Premium List
may state this stake is available to any
individual breed wherein two or more hounds,
designated at time of entry, being owned and
kenneled by the same person are offered
non-competitive awards and/or trophies by the
Host Club or individual. |
| KILL |
The
"dive" at the lure at the finish line.
Some judges weigh their scoring on this as well
as the "honoring-the-kill" attitudes of
the other hound(s). |
